Furman 67 The Citadel 58

Charleston, SC. The Paladins (11-10, 5-5) posted their first-ever Holy City SoCon Sweep by besting the Bulldogs (4-17, 1-9) less than 48 hours after beating the College of Charleston on its home court for the first time in more than 50 years. Furman led 36-30 at halftime, but The Citadel cut a nine-point Paladin lead to one with 6:30 left in the game before managing only two free throws in the last 5:09 of the game.

Junior Colin Reddick came off the bench to lead Furman in scoring with 12 points. His brother Charlie Reddick pitched in 11, and Brandon Sebirumbi added 10.

As they did Thursday night, the Paladins played without starting point guard Rich Brown. Graham did not play.

Furman 69 College of Charleston 63

Charleston, SC. The Paladins (10-10, 4-5) turned a six-point halftime lead into a 14-point advantage at the beginning of the second half and hung on from there to break a nine-game losing streak to the Cougars (12-8, 4-5). It was the first Furman win on CofC's home court since the 1952-53 season and only the fourth Paladin victory in the last 32 meetings between the two teams (in spite of which Furman still leads the series 41-38).

Senior Brandon Sebirumbi led the Paladins' scoring with 15 points. Junior Bryant Irwin came of the bench to score 14, and Charlie Reddick added 12 before fouling out.

Graham did not play but made several good cameo appearances on the espn3 broadcast during timeouts.

Wofford 79 Furman 72

Timmons Arena. The Paladins (9-10, 3-5) dropped a spirited 79-72 decision to the Terriers (12-8, 4-4) after building an 11-point lead in the first half and leading by seven at the break. That lead evaporated in the first three minutes of the second half, and Wofford built a 12-point cushion. But Furman went on an 11-2 run to cut the Wofford lead to 70-73 with less than a minute remaining. A Paladin turnover leading to a Terrier layup ended the Furman threat.

Senior Brandon Sebirumbi led the Paladins in scoring for the second game in a row, and sophomore Charlie Reddick added 14. Senior Bryson Barnes had 10 points off the bench. Freshman walk-on David Brown made his second career start in place of Rich Brown, who played 14 minutes off the bench adding seven points, two assists, and a steal before his back spasms returned early in the second half. David scored six points to go with two rebounds and two assists with no turnovers in 21 minutes of play but was on the bench for a seven-minute stretch when Wofford made its decisive run out to the 12-point lead.

Graham practiced all week, but did not play.

Furman 64 Georgia Southern 54

Timmons Arena. The Paladins (9-9, 3-4) made a ten-point half-time lead stand up to beat the Bulldogs (6-11, 4-3) for the third consecutive time despite playing without their top two point guards.

Freshman walk-on David Brown made his first career start and filled in ably with 6 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, 3 rebounds, and only one turnover in 30 minutes of play, as Rich Brown (back spasms) and Jordan Loyd (back) watched in street clothes. Brandon Sebirumbi and Charlie Reddick led all scorers with 16 points each, and Reddick also pulled down 14 rebounds to log his first double-double as a Paladin. Bryson Barnes added 12 points off the bench.

Return to Practice

Injury Update. Three months and a day after incurring a neck strain in practice, Graham returned to lifting weights and full-contact work with the Paladins this afternoon. Due to injuries to teammates, he had to run half the practice with the purple team. It wasn't pretty after so long a layoff, he said; but he was glad to be back on the court. Those 800 mg ibuprofens will probably come in handy this week.

Furman 58 Western Carolina 55

Cullowhee, NC. Furman's Charlie Reddick was 0 for 11 for the game when Coach Jeff Jackson drew up an inbounds play for Reddick as the go-to option, and he drained a 23-foot three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left for the win.

Playing without starting point-guard Richard Brown (back spasms), the Paladins (8-9, 2-4) built and then squandered a 13-point halftime lead over the Catamounts (8-10, 3-3) before hanging on for their third road win of the season and their first win in Cullowhee since 2004.

Senior Brandon Sebirumbi led Furman in scoring with 19 points. Freshman Jordan Loyd, filling in for Brown, contributed 10 points.

Update. Graham continues to participate in non-contact drills as he waits for Furman's Sports Medicine to clear him to return to contact. (Remember when basketball was a "non-contact sport"?)

Furman was led in scoring by senior Bobby Austin with 17 points and freshman Dominic Early with 14 points. Junior Bryant Irwin added 10.
